Ok...are there ANY kits out there designed for those of us that are colorblind? I'm getting so sick of trying to 'best guess' what the reading on the stupid color charts are.

Anyone curious to see what things look like to someone who is colorblind?

Find a nice colorful reef picture and upload it on

I happen to be a Protanope (and no, that's not like a jackalope)

I've seen an ad in FAMA for a little device that works with FastTest kits, you fill the little glass vile, stick it in the device and it gives you a digital read out. I don't know anything else about it though...let me find a magazine...

Here it is...

Medusa. Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, pH, Copper, Phosphate.

Yep, I go through the same thing.
I basically gave up trying to do it myself as I couldn't trust my 'guess', so I ask fellow a fellow reefer friend to do it for me.
I didn't hesitate in getting a Pinpoint Calcium monitor as a result. (1 down, many more to go electronic)

I have poor color perception.
I like the Salifert test kits because they generally only use a color change, not a comparison to a color chart. I mix two tests and don't add the final reagent to one, so I can see when they don't match anymore.
Usually, I just wait for my wife to get home :D

use salifert test kits, I had the same problem, but as mentioned above they only rely on change in color and not comparing colors. It is very easy to see as the colors are pretty significant changes. also they are the most accurate test on the market

Salifert may be easy for you, but I can't see the changes at all.
The only one I have a little chance with is the alk. I am able to see a change in 'shade' some of the times.

they are called digital probes....or you will have to rely on your friends/neighbors/kids/lfs to read the colors for you
