Hi,
What is the big deal with this coral? Is it light demanding or will fluorescents do? Does it have to be fed? Any experience with this coral would be appreciated.
A pretty tolerant coral IME. I got one as a hitch hiker on some live rock (bear in mind I"m in Japan, where they're pretty common) and it's survived reasonably long periods with shaded light. It only really thrives with bright light though (I have mine under halides). Grows quickly as well
Oh, and beware ricordias. I had more acans at one stage, but they were on the same rock as some ricordias and got progressively burned out. Kept meaning to cut the ricordias off, but never got round to it.
Oh, a lot of varieties will happily eat mysis shrimp or similar sized titbits just around lights out once the tentacles come out.
Yep, these guys aren't too light demanding IME. It's actually one of the easier corals to husband. I have bleached some colonies by putting them immediately under very strong halides, so be sure to acclimate them.
