Well I hope to make this some sort of log for my new tank so some pics will come soon just need some final answers before I begin.

My first marine tank was onl started 6 weeks ago in my 10g Nano which has some live rock, cleaner shrimp and pair of oscellaris clowns.

What I am planning on doing is getting my 60 gallon on tuesday. Just need to have a few questions answered:

1. I'm interested in having some clwns definitely, so what would you choose between a gold stripe maroon and black and white?

2. Once this has been done how many other fish do you think I could get and which ones. Probably most intereted in jawfish,gobies,chromis.....

3. I will only be able to afford about 12lbs of LR in the begiinning so do you think it would be best to hook up the tank to my nano as well so that there would be more LR in the system or just plumb it to the sump and start skimming?

4. Lighting may also be a bit of a problem to start with so can the tank do without lighting until I can afford some?

5. Since the LR has been cured for about two months at the LFS which is only about 1.5 hrs away would I need to cure the tank?

Many thanks

All replies would be greatly appreciated

Clown(fish) aren't my forte so I'll pass on an answer other than I like the black percs looks.

Some species of jawfish like a DSB, what kind of substate, if any are you going to have in the tank? As far as the others, I like blennies and gobies myself but you should look into what is least likely to be picked on by a pair of clowns-they can get agressive.

Describe the rest of your setup, which will help me answer that.

As long as you are keeping fish only, lighting isn't as important as water quality and flow. If you are thinking an anemone for your clowns that is a different matter.

Nothing I'll say is "final".

I recommend you get some experience, say one year with the small investment (the 10 gal) before you jump into the 60. You'll get the taste of what it takes, make mistakes on a small scale and be able to put together some $$$ for the big tank.

It depends on what you want. I strongly recommend you read a reasonably good book before you buy your 60 gal tank. Say Fenner's book. It will be time and money (very) well spent.

As I said above, take your time and do it right, don't rush -> you'll lose more in the long run.
