Seeing that the tank bit the dust during the storm and I have to move it I am thinking I want to make a new stand. This stand will be longer and wider that the tank and possibably a little taller than the existing one I have now. I am thinking of adding 4 inches to each "side", 4 inches to the front and 2 inches to the back. That would give me a foot pring of 32 inches long and 30 inches wide. The extra space would be nice. I could change the sump over to a 20 gal instead of the 10 gal I use now. I was also thinking of adding 2-4 inches on the height. It would give a little more working room and bring the tank more to eye level for an average person. My concern is not having the tank directly over the legs. Since the tank is acrylic the top will be sheeted with plywood so the load will be spread at bit to the legs.

Any comments?

You could also put in corner supports (like on square tables) or use small shelving brackets to distribute the weight to the legs.

BTW I really like the look of the cube tanks, sorry to hear about its demise. Glad to here that you and the fam made it out of the storm.

Make it like a floor, with a couple o 2x3's running across the length The 3/4" ply will distribute the rest of the weight.

I was planning on running two 2x4's on 24" out to out to support the tank and either 1/2 or 3/4 ply on the top.
