Here's a link to a short movie showing my upside down jellyfish, Squishy Jelly

http://www.codeofthewalrus.com/Squishy.mpg

Little over 4 megs.

He lives in a little 1 gal tank w/sandy substrate and no filtration. Lighting is provided by a halogen desk lamp. He's grown from the size of a pinky nail when he was in my 10gal nano, to about a quarter.

Comments appreciated :)

"Honey...

Are you still in there playing with your jellyfish?"

Got to love audio!

Very cool. He/she looks very happy!

Had a neat exhibit of upsidedown jellies in boston.

whered you get him? we see those in the mangroves out here

He appeared in a 10gal tank I was curing LR in. Had no filtration or lights on it and after sitting for about a month, I noticed him kicking around in there. Put in some more LR to cure and it got covered w/hydroids.
Had about 50-60 of em at one time, but after a move and die off, he's the only one that lasted.

Since putting him under the halogen desk lamp, he's probably trebled in size....it's true what they say that these guys want intense lighting....someday I hope to get MH for him.

Haha....forgot about audio...she's actually talking to one of our dogs, Cubby.

He/she is really happy. I do about 2 topoffs with fw per week, and every other week change out all the water. I use Catalina so I don't have to mess w/mixing etc.

Just noticed today that I'm getting small pods and a few small worms. Have no clue where they came from as the sand in the tank was old dried sand left over from another tank that had been broken down about 3 months and sitting in our garage.

Life will find a way!

what do you feed the upsidedown jellyfish?

Nothing at all. He gets his food via zooxanthallae which is why intense lighting is good for em. They can eat other things tho, so I might drop in one or two mysis, mainly to feed any microscopic critters that are in the tank. He'll eat those too.
