I have found three of these so far. one on the back of a rock, one on the back of a powerhead, and i just found another on the back wall of the tank....


what is it??

They are called brittle stars. Good citizens. The only exception is one that looks like those and is all green. Detritivores, they also do a good job.
Definetly keepers.

Wow, you got 'em as hitchhikers... most of us have to buy them.

I've had two in my tank since day one. Wow, that makes them about 7 or 8 years old. How long to they live...anyone?

I have so many of these guys.... at least 10... in my 5 gallon! I just found a white one today. They hide most of the time though....

Not this species wrasser!

I put 10 in my tank in 2003, now I have 5-10 in every filter bag I change. I've been giving them away/trading them.

Mine are black and white like yours.

When you feed your tank, look closely at the rocks, you can see their little arms grabbing at food!

This is two filter bags worth.

Those look great. I wish I would have those as my main clean-up instead of the bristleworms (they give my wife the creeps). Next time I'm in NYC I would appreciate if you can trade me a few of those.
