I have lost my first coral with this tank. However I do believe there is foul play involved. My small 1 inch by 1/2 inch montipora digita has been kidnapped. There is no ransom note and no signs of the ill fated coral. It has just vanished. There is nothing in the tank capable of eating it so I am at a loss (in more ways than one). Any thoughts?

yes and yes, but I have checked the rock work even removing a few pieces to no avail, the sand around the rock work it undisturbed. i am sure it will turn up, hopefully alive at some point. It really has to be in the rocks or under the rocks. But from where it was perched if it fell with the current it should have landed in the wide open. Invasion of the coral snatchers.

SEe that's why I like using those brightly colored plastic wall anchors as frag plugs, that way if it flips over I have something to look for :)

Your montipora is doing well, a perfect adornment in my tank. My Coralnapper 2000 (TM) has fuflilled its mission.

Xanthid crab most likely. I had one that would steal frags and drag them into his hole in the rockwork. When I finally got around to tearing the tank apart I found several M. digi frags, a few rics (bleached white :() and about 15 or 20 empty snail shells - his preferred meal.

All joking aside, I hope you find your coral Ranger. I've got a zooanthid frag somewhere in the depths of my tank as well. It didn't take hold when I first placed it, and it's fallen between nowhere and somewhere. Hopefully, one day she'll turn up. Give ya that feeling like finding money underneath the cushions of your couch.

AND ITS OK!!!!!!! Found it this morning out in the middle of the tank. Just appeared overnight. So I guess I have a traveling monti. Kind of odd that it showed up in the area that I did most of my searching. Weird. Anyway, its back in its rightful spot and all is right in the universe again.

The disappeance isn't really that odd, I've got plenty of frags that have gone bye-bye... mostly from getting knocked to deep into the rocks by a critter, but the turning up again is really strange unless it's a softie and it manages to float to somewhere you can see it again.

This is the third morning it has dissappeared and reappeared. I think it finds this game amusing, which makes one of us. I have tried to super glue it but it doesn't hold for crap. Any thoughts?
