Critter ID please... dangerous? or safe?

Hello fellow reefers... I have been consumed by life as always... However, the wife and I noticed two of these little critters tonight. One was attached to the side of a small snail, and the this one was on the outer side of the overflow...

what is it?

is it safe?

That looks like a chiton to me, although I have never seen the underside of one before.

They eat algae. Good guys!

Yeah, a chiton shell. Chiton is good algae eater, and IME, completely harmless.
