I got my 5800 yesterday, nice unit! One issue: There is vibration coming up the intake line, not the return. The difference between the two lines that I can see is that the return has some spa flex, while the intake doesn't. Do you think adding some spa flex to the intake line will reduce the vibration?

TIA

BTW
I think it is still not enough flow!

Actually, the pump is noisy. Is that just par for the course with the big pumps, or do you guys think that what I am hearing by the tank is vibration noise coming up the intake line?

My sequence is silent, could it be the fan that you are hearing? Do you have it on any type of rubber pad? Mine is on 2 mouse pads. The BL40 fan makes more noise and mine is completly hard piped.

Do you mean that the pump is silent, but you hear the fan?

Sometimes, yes. For the most part, large magnetic drive pumps should made with such precision that they are very smooth and quiet. Maybe a little turbine-like.

Maybe quiet is relative! I think its a pretty loud fan thought. I have head that the 5800's are louder than the other models.

The pump is under the house but right below the holes the piping comes through, so maybe what I am hearing is just the fan noise coming up through there. I think I will plumb some flex in the vibrating line to see if that helps. I might also Tuch n' Foam the holes.

There is vibration in the pump though - it may just be the fan. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

My Sequence also has some vibration which comes through the intake pipe and resonates through my sump. I'm going to replace the intake with flex pvc in a couple of weeks when i replace my sump and I'm hoping that will help some.

Also, I think galleon's description of the noise it should put out is pretty accurate. If you think it makes a different noise, there could be a problem. I had this problem and called MDM (Sequence manufacturer) and they sent me out a new pump and said that it was likely the impeller rubbing. The new one was much quieter. HTH.

I think what is going on is I didn't expect the fan to be so loud. It is very turbine-like, just louder than I thought.
