Working pressure changing
My working pressure jumps from 7 to 8 and back to 7 every once in a while, causing my bubble rate to increase and decrease.
Any Idea what is making it do it?? Regulator is new.

You are talking about the pressure for calcium reactor, right?

It is common, because the regulator is not designed for working with such a low pressure. I usually keep it at a higher pressure, and set the needle valve smaller to compensate.

I think most people keep their working pressure in the 20-30 psi range. That works well for me. There will be some variation in bubble rate which is why they say to count the bubbles over a minute or more to get your true rate.

Thanks for the replys.
The guage, uniweld, comes standerd on the LifeReef reactor set. Yes, it's the working pressure for the reactor. It starts at 0, ends at 15 and red lines at 9. Jeff at lifeReef suggests using 6 for working pressure.
I'm going to give him a call later and see what he has to say.
Thanks, Mark

There is a difference between the working pressure of a reactor and the CO2 pressure before the needle valve. Not familiar with LifeReef rxtor, but if I understand you correctly, there is a 1 PSI pressure change inside the reactor? If the CO2 pressure is kept at higher PSI, it is less prone to the problem you described. Making sure there is no blockage or restriction on the output also will help. I won't worry too much about the working pressure change.

<brag mode on> Don't know about commerical rxtor, but my DIY rxtor can handle 80 psi <brag mode off>
