I thought you going to use rock you find in river/stream for your reef tank. :)

I haven't installed my Wavebox (waiting to build next system), but everyone says they are fantastic so I can't wait.

Tunze seems to make really high-end products. The streams I've seen in operation are powerful yet efficient.

BTW hey Rich. I'm back after getting hounded "over there."

I thought my Architeuthis thread was cool too!

tunze makes amazing stuff. I have the 6000s right now, and want to add a wavebox to my tank. the wavebox gives awesome motion to the tank and really kicks up a lot of crap from the rocks, but you need the streams or a closed loop or something to blow it all away. The wavebox just kinda has it hover around the rocks, but not really go anywhere.

I would try a wavebox if I was custom building a tank and canopy. I wouldn't want to give up 2-3 inches of height in my current tank to deal with the waves.

Other than that, I think the wavebox is neat-o!

There's a new product coming out that I saw at MACNA. Basically similar to a stream, but inside the tank is only the plastic propellor and housing, and outside the glass is the motor. They are held together on the glass with strong magnets. Wicked slick looking. They are beta testing now.

Sorry I can't remember the company, but they were using part of the icecap booth.

I used a sieo in the sump and it locked up in a matter of weeks. I am moving the one that was in the tank to the sump, and well see how it does. Both 820's.

The construction of the Stream is way different than the Sieo. The Sieo is much more complicated and easier to clog. The stream is elegant and looks really hard to clog.

:D

The EcoTech Marine Vortech pump...distributed by IceCap. Looks very, very, very cool.

That looks pretty hip! And expensive!
I couldn't use that though. The magnet for my stream is actually in the overflow!

Just wondering. The cost is soo much less. However it is a TAAM(RIO) which also turns me off.

That new Ecotech pumps looks awesome.

(Seio is a Rio product, and I've read too many neg. reviews to consider their items in my tank... awesome Eddie sig BTW. Gotta love Iron Maiden)

Killer EcoTech pump find, guys.

Lighting, skimming, and wave technologies have come the farthest in the last 5 years it seems, and they have the most promise.

Tell me - on my system (a 7' long, 24" deep, 18" tall), how should I use the return in conjunction with my wavebox to get the scum out?

I was thinking of plumbing a line to the bottom, then acrossbottom edge, and punch holes in the pvc making it into a spraybar that forces water off the bottom, hoping the pull of the overflow would suck the suface scum out.

What do you think? Would you do the return that way? Or would it be better to just point it at the surface and keep it moving? I want to keep the bottom clean since there will be no sand to absorb/process waste.

Righty - Does the magnet hold the Tunze good? I am using the mount that hangs on the tnak but my canopy is in the way.

The magnet holds it way more solid than I would have expected. Very difficult to move once connected!

they seem to be suicide pills for anenome's as the anenome always heads towrds them then then ... no more anenome

i would really like to have one but i would make an acrilic box around it so only the outpout is exposed.. then the box would have holes in it so water can get in to the pump but since it is more surface area the flow throu each hole would be slower .. safe anenome :)

any one knotice all the good stuff seems to start in germany?
also did any one ever try the tunze skimmer out i really want to see a review on one of those
