Mushroom Splitting Question

If I cut a mushroom from the outside to the center and just leave it still attached to the rock...will the mushroom split into two pieces?
I have "blended" a mushroom before and one grew into about 10 but I just want to assist nature in covering a rock.

You can, but if the pieces are not seperated they may heal instead of split.

I just cut it into 4 and all the pieces are still attached. We shall see what happens next.

if you can get a ruber band around the shroom, you can split it hat way..
