When I turned on the light this morning, I noticed something was wrong with the duster. I couldn't place it at first, as the duster is in the corner of the tank, and I thought I was seeing a reflection of the duster disk in the glass on the other side. problem was, I was seeing 2 disks in the reflection! 8O

My duster's main disk is splitting down the middle, growing a length of fan at the split 8O

Is this duster reproduction? Do they reproduce through fission?

Are you talking about the crowns (feathers) ?
Some generi and species reproduce by budding, most reproduce by free spawning (releasing gametes into the water) and others simply have 2 crowns (which you may be seeing).
Got a picture.

No, it does not reproduce that way. It is a lot more complicated for a advanced animal like segmented worm to go from one head to two head and split down the middle into two separate organism.

ANEMONEBUFF is pulling your leg.

Cut open the papery tube, and all you can find is one worm with a bad hair.

I just checked my references and yes somes generi and species undergo asexual reproduction (splitting).

I know you can cut an earthworm in half... but I never heard of feather dusting splits.
