I'm a new reefkeeper(hi), and have a bit of a conflict between a 6-line wrasse and a very aggressive neon dottyback. Pulling all the coral and rock doesn't seem like a lot of fun. In a freshwater tank, or really any tank with less "stuff", it would be pretty easy to put the aggressor in "time out" in a large net or tupperware, but given the rockwork and difficulty in catching the aggressor... I was wondering if anyone had tried using a turkey baster and water, kind of like a water bottle with a cat. For that matter, any other ideas?

Get a specimen container and hold it in the water then use a net to chase it into the container. Might work. ;) Neon dottybacks are mean as hell.

how big is the tank, if it is big enough and the six line is a new residence it might just take some time to get use to.

I'm sorry to tell you that there is no "time-out" or lesson learned with marine fish. The aggression between the dottyback and wrasse will continue until the wrasse is dead. One or the other fish should be removed. Unfortunately, they're both difficult to catch in a reef tank.

Got to agree w/GS, I had a similar problem and even after a total tank tear down and rearranging of the rocks (breaking up the territories) the aggression still continued.

Good luck!
