I've come here for suggestions on buying some coral taxonomy books.
Is Corals Of The World (3 Volume Set) by J. E. N. Veron any good for taxonomy?

Many do use the Veron books for a taxonomic resource although they may not be accurate in a few cases where changes in coral taxonomy have been made/accepted/discovered since they were published.

Sorry I can't be more helpful but at least you get a bump...

Australia has an excellent ID site that usually works and best of all it is free. Most of the pics are the same as the ones used in Vernon's COTW set as well. It is nice to have the books to flip through and the pictures are nice and there is a little more information in the books but the website is well worth the price of admission. The search page doesn't seem to work because whatever options you pick it gives you the same 794 corals as a result, but if you have a good idea you can start looking at the individual species and anther nice feature is that it gives you other corals that are similar that are hotlinked to just click on them and they pop right up in a new browser.
