I just put a dragon wrasse in my 120 reef and I would like to know a little more about them. Any special diet requirements? Are they notorius snail killers? Fish killers? Also, my lfs informed me it would take care of a 8" + bristleworm I have, (that I really dont believe), anyone willing to confirm this?

Spectacular fish though, I cant believe the personality/character it adds to the tank

thanks

Novaculichthys taeniourus which grow to about 11" will not only eat your bristleworms, but your snails, shrimp, serpent stars, small fish and all, while making a complete mess of your reef tank as it will redistribute rock rubble, dig through the sand bed, topple coral frags and even disappoint you by jumping out of an uncovered tank.
They should be fed frequently shreds of meaty foods such as shrimp, squid, mussels, etc.
Other than that they are a beautiful fish.

David Mohr

I've also heard they get meaner as they grow older.

With respect, psuedo74, you are supposed to do research first, not second! :D

Great fish and way cool, too bad they are not really reef safe. Good fish for a FOWLR or just FO - we always have room for another tank right?
