Is the regular plumbers epoxy that is available at HD reef safe?

I used it a few times in my 75G without any apparent problems that I attributed to it.

I was just wondering if it is the same stuff that is sold specifically for aquarist just in a different package and for a fraction of the price?

What you think? Use it or no?

Some of the plumber's epxoxies contain steel filler. I would avoid these; otherwise they're generally safe to use. Personally, I've been using the True Value hardware store brand of plumber's epoxy for years without any problems. It's half the price of the aquarium stuff.

Ahh. I shall read the label and see if it mentions steel fillers.

I'd halfway bet that Oatey makes True Value brand epoxy. I could be wrong though.
