How long does it take for the light to come on once you turn on the switch? I turned it on once when I first got it and it took a bit to start up tonight I went to turn it on to get some pics of the 10K bulb for another post and it was on for 5 min with no light. I turned it off, disassembled the ficture to ensure the bulb was in properly and then tried again, it has been almost ten minutes with nothing. How long is too long?

Are you 100% sure the bulb is fully seated? When I got my HQI fixture and tried to start it up I had the same problem. Even after "checking" the bulb. After checking a second time I realized I didn't have the bulb completely pushed all the way down. Duh!!

I received my second light yesterday and assembled it today, it is not a DIY but a pendant, as is the first. The first time I fired the new light, instant light, this morning on the 2 day old light it took 15 minutes. Same bulbs, same everything. identical set up. Yesterday when my wife fired it up it took about 15 minutes as well. Burns just as bright as the other, but takes 15 minutes longer to start up.

Well, it must be the bulb breaking in because they are firing right up now with no lag time. Thanks for the help.

THere's also a wait period if you turn it off and turn it on again. I usually have to wait about 20 minutes after the lights turn off before I can turn them on again.
