I am thinking of changing my lighting system to Halides

I was look at pendants that can hang from my ceiling cause I like the look and it makes it easy to get into my tank rather than the 2 hoods I have now.

I have a 50 gal tall so its 36" across 24" deep and 18" wide

would a pendant like this work or would I need more than one??

The rule of thumb that I found was one light for every 24 inches of tank length. I just received my 2 250w pendants from Hello lights yesterday and assembled them and turned them on this morning. Love them. I have the 20K XDE bulbs with them. I hope this helps. The setup into the ceiling was pretty simple and only took about 20 minutes. Just make sure you cover the top of the tank with newspaper or something to keep the ceiling dust out of the tank. All I used was a cordless drill, a phillips head screw driver and a hammer. Very simple. I just finished doing my research and purchase so if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Also if you go to hellolights.com and enter MACNA0905 in the coupon code you will receive 10% off. They also sent me so walt smith calcium additive free with the purchase and have a 30 day 100% satisfaction guarantee and the lights came with a 1 year warranty.
