I am thinking of adding some fish in a month or two and I am starting the research cycle of deciding what I want to add. My current specs are this.

46 gallon Bow front
65 pounds LR
40 lbs LS
assorted SPS and LPS
one yellow tang about 3 inches long
one flame angle
one cleaner shrimp
and assorted snails
4 blue legs
4 conches
bakpak 2 skimmer
2x250w HQI MH

I would like to add something for the upper water colum, but would like small schooling fish. Chromis are too "normal" and the ones at the LFS are cyanide caught I believe due to my previous experience. I am also debating a pair of clown gobies for the rock work, but not sold on them yet. Any thoughts on what you would add?

May I suggest one of the following:

A mated pair of Neon Gobies could be fun.
Barnacle Blennie is always a cool fish.
Clown Gobies are cool.
Royal Gramma.
Firefish.

I can't think of any common schooling fish that will work for you until the Tang is removed (soon I hope). Schooling fish require space and a 3' tank just doesn't cut it IMO.
