I have the Coralife Aqualight Pro lighting system on my 90 and I have been struggling with the right combination of lighting. The light fixture came with two 150 watt 10000K Coralife halide bulbs and two 96 watt Actinic 03 Coralife PC bulbs. The stock look was very bright but very yellow. Within a week I had the halides swapped out for some 14K Phoenix bulbs which have a very nice blue color but maybe half as much intensity as the original bulbs. I realize now that I've limited myself with the 150watt fixture, I'm sure 250 watt Phoenix bulbs would be perfect.
I've noticed that you can barely tell the PC bulbs are on in combination with the halides. Given the situation though I think I have a few options to keep the nice white/blue color but add a bit more punch of intensity.
Option 1:
Swap out the dim 03 Actinics for brighter 7100k style actinics. This would also intensify the amount of blue.
Options 2:
Swap out one 03 Actinic for a 10000k and do some rewiring in order to keep the dawn/dusk effect. This may be the way to go to add just the right amount of punch I think it is missing.
Option 3:
Ditch the Phoenix bulbs for some BLVs or AB 10000k halides that are closer to the blue end of the spectrum(As far as 10000k goes) and swap out the dim 03 Actinics for the brighter 7100K actinics to drown out the yellow. I'm really not sure it would be enough to hide the yellow but it should proide quite a bit more punch.
Can anyone recommend the route they would go, or have any other ideas besides ditching my current lighting system?
