Hello all. Just want your opinions on installing 2 fans in my hood. I'm running a 250W MH in and enclosed hood. Well, there is about 3 inches of clearance on each side on the top that is towars the back wall. I was thinking of installing one fan pushing air from the top and one pulling out the side. Or, would it be better to install both fans pulling out the side using the space behind the hood as intake? I guess I should also raise my bulb from 6 inches above the water to 12?

Thanks,
Phillip

I used the 3in Ice Cap fans. They didn't do too much in my canopy.

I installed a 6inch clip on fan from WallyWorld that is controlled by a Ranco temp controller.

It works allot better for $10 as well.

The Icecaps are a little pricey for what you get The temp sensor really doesn't do all that much since the fan goes full blast when reef lights are on. A simple on/off timer would work just the same. The fans also aren't the quietest.

A note about blowing/sucking air out of the canopy: the fans will quickly corrode. I personally prefer to blow air into the canopy. Sucking out damp saline air is terrible on moving parts.
