I'm in the planning stages of upgrading from a 75 gal non-drilled to a 90 gal AGA with the Megaflow. I'd like to have it draining into a 29 gal sump/refugium combination. I'm planning to use a MAG7, so the flow rate will be 450-500 gph, however, I've read that the refugium should only get 2-3X turnover rate. How do most of you address that mismatch in flow rate? Divert only some of the flow into the refugium (via plumbing? baffles?). Or use something less than a MAG7 and reduce the overall flow rate? Thanks.

John H,

i don't know if you have purchased the megaflow kit.... most LFS's sell it for $50-$75.... you can put it together your self much cheaper...

you need a 1" bulkhead (slip)
a 3/4" bulkhead... (slip or threaded)

your 1" is the drain... I bought durso standpipes... but you can build them.. he gives directions... www.dursostandpipes.com

then fancy the return with 3/4" PVC 1 90deg elbow slip-fem thread. and ten buy some lockline pieces and you are set... some people put check valves in the return line... I drilled a siphon break in the corner of the 90..

Hey John, you really don't want less flow then a Mag 7 through your sump/refugium, so divide the flow by T'ing the overflow drain between your sump and refguium. Splitting the flow to your refugium in half will work just fine.
