The 14 day "stay alive" guarantee (which seems to be the best of the online bunch) makes me think so at first blush, but upon further reflection I'm not so sure. Can they offer 14 days because the animals seldom croak, or because high volumes get them better prices in the first place...allowing them to take more of a hit on casualties?

I don't want to use ANYBODY'S guarantee, really. I want my new fish to prosper. I'm just not sure if long "stay alive" guarantees increase that probability...


PS: Yup, first post. But I've been lurking and eavesdropping on you all for months!

Welcome to rdo. Like your self I came and read long before I ever registered. Then it took forever to start posting.

As to your question, I don't feel the good drs. have better fish. I don't even think that they have any fish. Meaning that they are sort of middle men, they have your fish shipped right from a wholesalers tanks. Yes, they get a better price than your lfs, but do you really want to order a fish that you've never seen. Also on mail order livestock, in most cases you still would have to pay for the additional shipping should they replace what died. Also some on line vendors will require that you send back the dead animal and a sample of your water, then the "might" replace your dead fish.

Can you say "TRIPLE" shipping costs? I think it is better in the long run and in most cases to use the local guys, even if it means driving a few hours. jmho :wink:

Just my opinion but I have had the best customer service with them of any company I have ordered online with. Pretty good story actually my wife who knows very little about the hobby ordered me some live rock for my birthday. She orderd 50 pounds. The stickler she is wieghed upon arrival and it only weight 42 pounds.(the rock alone) She called to complain and they sent us 15 pounds more a store credit of 35 dollars and never got a bill for next day air shipping.

Know I have never ordered fish just corals, rock, and cleaner crews so I cannot comment on fish but I will give a big thumbs up for customer service.

Well thats good to hear about the customer service, we just ordered live rock from them. it comes in tomorrow. I hope that there are no issues with it.
