Just received my MCE600 hang-on today, and it looks like a very, very well-built unit. Hooked it up, plugged it in, and so far it's very very quiet (quieter than my AquaC Remora). The biggest noticeable difference is the absence of that big bulky prefilter box on the Remora...

My only concern right now is the size of that collection box--does anyone else find it to be a hassle because of its relatively small size? I guess time will tell soon enough...

keep us updated on how it works, I was thinking about starting a 58 oceanic with the MCE600 as the skimmer for it.

I was looking at one for my new tank, after I move. Was going around 50-60g. but may keep my fairly new 90g cube. I have read most all I can find on the MCE600 and its quoted capacity.

Although the 90,s drilled, I may not run a sump and thus the Deltec. Do you guys running them think it can handle a tank of that size. It will be on the lighter side for fish load. It will contain mostly sps type corals though.

The MCE600 should work fine on your 90 gallon reef aquarium, even if you increased the fish load in the future.

Hi Greg, or anyone else with this skimmer-- are there any easy mods or add-ons that would make it a more effect surface skimmer? I've been having to manually net out debris from the water surface every now and then. Other than that I absolutely love this skimmer-- the water looks cleaner, and the corals/fish look happier. Any ideas?

You might be able to use the Eheim surface skimmer extractor on the input side of the skimmer, but I've never tried this. I do know that it works well.

I use powerheads to roil the surface of the water and this prevents the formation of "scum," so this is not an issue for me.

Thanks Greg :)

I've adjusted the powerheads to take care of the surface buildup, so hopefully I won't need to do any more modifications.

More testimony to the awesomeness of this skimmer -- I had a little cyano bloom while the remora was running. Only a day or two after installing the deltec, the cyano completely disappeared. I guess it's safe to say I'm a pretty happy customer. :)

I've read that the US aquabee has higher output than its european counterpart due to voltage differences. I think they said it was 10-15% on that other forum.

hope this isn't hijacking the post, but is there a source for a replacement aquabee pump? mine is getting weak.

I got a replacement for my Deltec ca reactor from deltecusa.us, but be forewarned: it's pricey! Buying an eheim in the States is much cheaper (and I find a better pump). I wish Deltec used all Eheims instead of a mixture of eheim and aquabee.
