Why? My tank is only 20 1/2 " tall x 18" wide and 60" long.
The fixture will be resting on the tank trim (not the lip on the trim where those gay factory flourecents go, but on the trim its self ).

So what bulbs did you end up going with Fragmaster? I am looking to replace my 20K XM DE as the bulbs are now buring entirely different colors and I am not getting really good growth out of them. I am thinking about 10k ushio or the new aqualine bulbs. Any thoughts since this thread started? New experiences?

Any of those 5 any better than the others?

Need to keep this going I still can not decide on the bulbs for my new tank. Has anyone tried the reflux 10kk in the DE varity?

I just replaced my 3 250 DE bulbs with Phoenix 14K. I don't know if my eyes need to adjust or the bulbs need to burn in or if they just have a slight baby-blue tint.

I don't want everything tinted any color, I want white light with florescing corals. Next time I'll probably get 3 ushio 10ks again but just increase my number of VHO actinics. Or, maybe these will burn in a bit; we'll see.

Are the ushios pure white or is there any blue tint to them at all? Looking at the 250 DE 10K Thanks.

I guess you could say they have a blue tint, but it is very minimal. They are pretty white to my eyes.

I have no room for supplemental lights so I have to go with a stand alone MH. Would you recommend them or something bluer?

Sorry, I forgot this thread. To my eyes they are not blue enough alone.

I'm liking my new Phoenix 14k bulbs though- it just took me a bit to get used to a different look. I think they would be fine alone.

I use the Phoenix 14K alone also. I think they are great. Definitely not as blue as a 20K would be but a nicer look than most 10,000K's I've seen.
