I'm interested in coordinating the first of what could be an annual Online Frag Swap among RDO members. I've included a poll where we can gauge interest.

To really make this worthwhile, this swap will only consist of LIMITED EDITION SPS and LPS. If enough members show interest, further record and detail threads of the Swap will be posted in THE COLLECTOR'S FORUM.

Here are some early thoughts on how we can do this:

Those that wish to participate, will submit photos of the actual frag that they will be contributing. The piece will be subject to the approval of RDO admins and mods. When approved, your name will be placed in either the SPS or LPS category. Than the names will be randomly paired up in each category to determine whom your exchange partner is.

At this point, we will announce when (likely a 5 business day period) when each member must ship out their frag.

Please don't hesitate to add any thoughts, concerns, or ideas you may have.

Best regards,

Karl

I'd do it if you can wait for my new tank to come online :P

Same here. I need a month or two. Then I'll have a bucketload of frags. Right now I don't have a square inch to put them in.

Remember, all of your precious, rarest frags are belonging to me.

I have plenty of room in my 300G tank :D

I suppose we could run a 3rd category for zoos and other softies.

We'll see how many show interest in the next 30 days, so that Len, Dan, and others can join in.

Please shoot me a PM if you're interested in joining, and I'll keep you on a list for furthur announcements.

P.S. I have some wicked zoos :D

Which is a very good thing! You need to send me some! 8O

Limiting isn't that good an idea, as it keeps alot of folks out that would otherwise participate. How bout a "no brown" exculsion. Just limit it by class: sps, lps, zoa, ric, shroom and softy; ok, maybe not that many classes, but you get the idea. No one gets into these things and shares an ugly piece of crap anyway.

How about tiers; 3rd tier - average stuff, 2nd tier - the good stuff, 1st tier - stuff that brings tears to your eyes. A 2nd tier submission is only eligible to get back 2nd tier goods.

Along with the picture is a request for what type you want back, SPS, LPS, Zoa, Leather, etc. That way someone with 1st tier SPS can trade for 1st tier Zoa if they want.

There would have to be judges for what goes into each tier.

Just food for thought.

Generally it has come to mean named and known clones of a specific individual specimen.

Specifically it means stuff Steve Tyree puts up for sale with 5 year waiting lists.

There will be lots of other stuff to consider, too, other than Steve's Limited Edition list. Like the GARF Purple Bonsai, Oregon tort, brightly colored morphs of Acans and Chalices, etc. We're basically talking frags, heads, or polyps that easily fetch $65- $100. I don't expect anyone to be throwing in Purple Monster frags or anything.

My initial thought was that a single 'Limited Edition' piece would be worth going through all the trouble of packaging and shipping, especially considering the current gas surchages.

Since this will be 'The Collector's Forum' themed SWAP, I don't think we should go deeper than 3 categories (SPS, LPS, and softies). We won't limit this to just the 'named and known' specimens, and will strongly consider the rare and interesting color morphs you have to offer (which will be the case for many LPS and softies species).
