External Overflow Boxes

So my friend wants to do a sump under his 90g tank but he don't want to drill the tank.So I told him that he can make an external box with overflow but I need your help here because I don't know alot about these overflows..

Are they secure first of all ?

Please give me some info about them and if possible even pictures please.

yeah. get a "J" tube type not the CPR "U" tube type...

this is the one I have used and love it....

the quietflo-1200... it always restarted never lost siphon... easy to clean and restart..

While I don't use a hang-on external overflow, my friend uses the CPR C-siphon style box with the Aqualift pump and he hasn't had any siphon breakage either.

I have one and I hate it.

I really want a drilled tank. My U-Tube always fills up with bubbles and breaks the siphon. Unreliable and stupid.

If you do get one. Check it everyday, even if you got a cool anti-bubble thing for the U-Tube.
