Hello everyone

I have such questions.
Is it possible at all to keep marine aquarium without liverock or with very few pieces ?

I tried this one with following content but the only result is green water.

60G tank
2" crushed coral sand
4x36w daylight
Skimmer
3000 lph pumps
No additives
Salinity .023
Some hermits, macroalgae, damsels.

The water turns green and stays green. Everything I put in does fine...

Its totally possible, I did it for over a year with no live rock at all.

Are you running any carbon?

what kind of skimmer is it and are you getting any junk out of the tank with it?

You could stand raising your salinity up a bit, to around 1.025

Are you doing any water changes? and how pure is your water?

At the moment im running carbon but green water remains...
Skimmer is diy counter-current. But its not producing any foam lately...
Waterchanges are done weekly 10% with destilled water...

3 things then, and this is just hurried advice cause I am off to work....

1. Crank that skimmer up so its producing foam
2. Do larger water changes, lets say about 50% for a while
3. Reduce your feedings to the bare minimum the fish need to stay alive, even skip a day once in a while. I skip probably 2 days a week feeding my fish.

Last thing, this tank isin't in front of a window with sunlight streaming in all day is it?

They also have those little UV rigs that will easily eliminate your green water. It may grow elsewhere, but the water will be clear.

Also, if it's fish only, keep your lights off! Turn them on only when you want to view.
