Chevron tang food

I don't have any personal experience with the Chevron Tang since it's a pretty rare fish but I have kept many other tanks in the past and am currently keeping a Sailfin Tang and Kole Tang together. Since they are herbivores, you must include plenty of greens. My tangs have always picked at my live rock because they are completely covered in algae. Since the Kole Tang and Chevron Tang are from the same genus, here is what I noticed. My Kole Tang was picking at the rocks a lot when he was first introduced but he rarely took what I offered. I then put in some dry nori and he loves to pick at that. Since then, he picks at the rocks, nori, and he eats spirulina, formula one, formula two, frozen brine shrimp, and frozen mysis shrimp.

Most tangs will go for Nori. Pick some up at your local oriental food store. Make sure it is the unspiced or seasoned types.

He's picking at stuff- I put a couple of small rocks from my reef in the Q. tank- but not eating the nori on the clip- or when I tear it into small pieces. I am going away for 2 days- I have someone to come in once a day to feed- will this be enoug? Any other ideas for food?

I had my chevron for 3+ years. He ate mysis, soaked brine, dulse, nori, broccoli, krill...pretty much everything.

My recommendation is to offer several types of foods to see what it likes best. Try live black worms, sushi nori, spirulina, mysis, or even plain old marine fish slow sinking morsels. I feed my fish all of the above on a schedule, but that is beside the point.

If the hawaiinesis hasen't taken any food at all, I would try soaking some mysis in garlic solution in an effort to coax it into eating at all. Good Luck!
