Alrighty now, what is this, and how do I work it?

I got this somewhere, and don't really know what it is, how to hook it up, what color line is what, or how to change the thingies inside or even if they need changing, its been sitting around for at least a year, maybe two.

Any suggestions?

How much is this gonna cost to get running?

3 stage RO unit. Prefilter, carbon and a high silcate (at least originally) RO membrain. Yellow is water in, blue clean water out, orange waste water out... again assuming it it set up right.

Prolly $80-$100 to replace all the filters.

Agreed, the whole thing looks new.

Only way to know for sure is to make water with it and then use a TDS meter to test Total Disolved Solids... find someone near you (LFS maybe) that has one.

Anyone who has a RO filter stolen in past two years, please notify your police with this lead...

Can't be 100% sure since I need to look at the plumbing on the back side. Looks like the yellow need to go to the tap water input, the blue is the RO water output, while the red is waste water that need to be hook up to the drain.

the sediment filter looks used... other than that.. the line descriptions are right on.

get a water hose adapter or a saddle valve and you are good to go..

RO units get destroyed if they come in contact whith water / high humitity then dry out
definitly replace the membrain just to be safe

Its not new, but its been sittin in my basement in a box for at least a year, and the guy I got it from had it hooked up to his sink when I got it so it has been used.

It has been full of water the whole time though....

I recently purchased a 75gpd membrane, Carbon & sediment filters, and a new flow restrictor from AirWaterIce for about $60.

Your RO membrane ($45) is most probably ruined.

I am having trouble finding parts for it since there is no model number on it anywhere.....


A TDS meter is 29 bucks that hooks right up to it, digital, from Kent Marine. Is that a good deal?

Also, how about a flush kit?


Last question. There is some warning on the kent marine site about Iron Magnesium and some other metals having some effect on the membrane or something. The main thing wrong with my water according to my last water test was really high levels of magnesium

Is there some sort of prefilter I should run the water through first?

Alrighty guys, I have a couple more questions, I am almost ready to hook this puppy up in my basement....


1. What exactly does a flush kit do? Can I make my own flush kit with some pvc fittings? It seems to me that a flush kit would push water through the RO output line and through the media and out the waste line. Do I have that right???

The people at Kent think I can just replace the bottom filters, but I am just going to hook it up the way it is and start filtering water. After I get a TDS meter I will check and see what it says, then I will know for sure what parts I need to replace.

2. Even if its not working at 100% it would be better than just using Tap water right?

Well, not going to hook it up today, it would take at least 15 bucks worth of fittings from my shop to adapt that tiny hose to 3/4" CpVC and I know if I just go to Lowe's tomorrow there will be one fitting that will do it for less than 5

So, off to do something else deconstructive....

the Orange tubing is the waste tube, I was hooking up the blue tubing to the waste.

Maybe... depends what it's rated at, if its rated at 30 gpd, then that's the maximum, under ideal conditions (although you can goose it with a booster pump to get more production).

depending upon pressure/temperature 4:1 or 5:1

Probably not unless you run it constantly

Okay, its actually hooked up permanetly and has water pressure to it.

There is water coming out of the waste tube

There is nothing coming out of the blue tube yet, its been about 10 minutes
