I will have pics this afternoon, my lights don't come on till 3 pm

Its working really well so far, I am taking no water from the top though, I haven't cut that slot into it yet.

Its also a bit noisy, I can fix that though, its just the distance the water has to drop after going over the ledge makes it sound like a rippling brook....

Here it is installed and running.

The only thing I was planning on that is not done is putting a small slot at the top to skim a small portion of the top. I am going to be waiting on that to see how big of an oil slick I get along the surface of the water. I am fairly confident that there will be some, but I would like to see how bad it is.

The water is still pretty cloudy, I am trying to re-arrange the entire sand bed a bit at a time.

First off, lets be perfectly clear about this, those are my wife's Santa's

I detest Christmas, everything it stands for both religiously and commercially I detest....

Now, I am using a mag 5 for a return pump, so that is how much is using the "knuckleflow" for a drain

I am also running all the flow of a xm30 pump, I forgot the name brand, through the back part of it, I used it as a manifold so I could break the flow up.

I guess your wife wears the pants in your family. Otherwise HER Santa's (yeah, right) wouldn't be sitting in front of YOUR tank. :P

ohh, I suppose....

Have you noticed any sand in your sump from the flow...?

or has it piled up in a chamber of the overflow...?

no sand in the sump, but there was a ton of silty stuff in the skimmer which is in the sump.

Probably from me stirring the sand.

The sand bed is not up to the slots yet, I am having to rearrange all the rock work and shift the sandbed a bit at a time.

No sand or anything in the chambers, they appear to be clean

There is a skim on top of the main tank water, but I am letting that build up a bit to see how bad it gets. Then I will cut enough slot in the top of this thing to get rid of it.

I do like the looks of it better this way, I may build a better one to replace it with though eventually.

Well, one of the inhabitants just freakin loves the knuckleflow.....

That giant bubble brittle star has slid itself behind the thing and just has its tentacles hanging out...

Purty cool.....

Is there a reason why you made an independent box and not just two sided.

Thanks Teddy
