hey guys

Ive dealt with MH so long, I've forgotten whats reasonable to keep under PC lighting. I have a 2x96w fixture Actinic03 and 10k that I'm going to put over a 40g breeder tank.

What can i keep in there?

I have a 2x96 and a 65watt and here is what corals I keep:
frogspawn
open brain
tons of diffrent kinds of mushrooms, no problems with any to date
tons of diffrent zoas, havent found a zoa I can't keep yet ether
kenya tree coral
xenia
yellow polyps
GSP
Green Button Polyps
and I even keep a red monti. cap that sits very high in the tank....it has been growing like CRAZY too (this one surpised me, I was trading with a guy and he INSISTED I took it, I did not think it was going to live)
fox coral (i don't have one but there supposed to be able to handle low light)

A few things you can't keep are:
most SPS (obviously)
most anemones (exceptions: Tube anemone, and maybe a Rock Flower Anemone)
any clam

there are a few sps, and other things that may "survive" under that light but will quickly lose there colour, and may not survive there full life span or be particularly (sp?) happy

breeder tanks are pretty shallow, I would imagine you'd be able to keep anything in there, including sps. I'll let you know in a few months, I'm putting a 96 quad over a 20 for frags/refugium.

Not as a plan, but I have my clams under 2x96 currently. It was only suppose to be for a couple weeks, but it has been a couple months and will be a bit longer as I finish building the new fishroom. They are in a 75, but about 5" from the surface. I know it is working as there is new shell growth. But I really don't love the idea and hope to have them back under MH very soon

I have almost hte same list as posted above ecxept I had Monti digita that was growing under the PC. Thicker growth not as fine of branches but still growth. I think it all depends on depth and placement.

Yes, I would love to keep a clam in my tank but....I have read quite extensively and they will not survive long term. At about a year they just kick the bucket. It is enough light for them to live some good amount of time but they wont be very happy and eventually will just die.

Well,

All this is for a temp tank anyway. When my new house gets built I'm going to strip the fixture of the 2x96 equipment and combine it inside a hood with my 250w mh.

Wow, I had better take my SPS corals out of my PC tank.[/quote]
