UV protection with MH

Did I dream this or is it true.
Mogul based bulbs have UV protection in the glass the bulb is made from, and DE do not?
If it was a dream and I need UV protection what type of glass am I looking for? I've been surfing around for DIY parts and don't see glass shelds with UV protection.

Yes, you want UV protection for the DE bulb. Any thin piece of glass will be plenty of protection. I'd recommend tempered glass to make it less likely to shatter if there's a splach.

I got my pendant MH cheap and I have no glass cover on the bulb

Kicking a 250 watt 15K MH on a uncovered 46 gallon All-Glass bowfront (cnter brace - upgraded).

Everybody is happy - Croecea clam (new 'foot' threads), pom-pom and elogota xenia growing like mad, frogspawn and hammer growing (slowly), green carpet A. loving life, (some star polyps in the corner - new).....and lots and lots of macro alagae (keeping urchin very busy).

Should I be worried here? The light is around 9 inches above the water. I dose daily with Kent Iodine.

I also sported for the UV protection on my spectacles.
