Option A. Don't want company thinking I live like a pig, and white crusty water lines on the front glass offer no doubt that it's a saltwater tank... offers a cheap method of braggin rights :)

I do three things

1. Fold up the blankets that are always on the floor or couch. (this place is drafty)

2. Sweep up the floor from the parrot (she is a freakin pig)

3. Clean the glass on the tank.

Normally in that exact order.

For example my house is clean right now except for a pile of half chewed fruits and veggies surrounding her tray, 4 blankets laying around and a soda and box of doughnuts sitting on the coffee table.
The glass isin't clean either.

Crap, I have company coming over in like 45 minutes.

Got to go

Ya know, I would have gotten a bird....and I used to LOVE them. Worked in pet store and had an affinity to them all. Until my brother got some type of $1600 exotic blue conure looking bastard parrot (from a chain store). The thing is a soldier of satin I swear. Mean as piss. Would play sweet until it got onto my leg, or other body part, that gave it access to some tender body part to which it could draw blood from.

I HATE THAT THING.

Now, I have had it all in my time - 6 simultaneous baby boa bites, lionfish stings, adult monitor lizard tails across the face, gecko permanently attached to my hand, Mary S. who broke my heart...but NOTHING was a worse as that 1.3 gram little blue bastard.

Now, I won't go in his house unless I have at least a spatula for defence.

Hey..... thank goodness this is not the bird forum. :0)

LOL. My sister-in-law had a little budgie like that. The stupid bird would go out of his way to bite you and the whole time it was coming after you you could hear curse words mixed in with the chirps (It picked that up from the brother-in-laws). That bird was so mean I didn't think it would ever die. It lived to be 11 years old (4+ years older than the average budgies life span).

And to answer the question, the house get cleaned before the tank even though the tank is the first thing they see when they enter the door.

I am in exactly this position now - except the tank is in my office and I have a client coming over for a meeting tomorrow. The 300 gal tank gets cleaned first (clients always ooh and ahh at the tank) and then my desk gets done. If my tanks look clean, it sends the message that I know what I am doing (I am a scientist) - if my desk looks a bit messy - they think I am busy and must know what I am doing to have so many clients :)
Strange logic, but it holds true!
