I have had this very rare toadstool for about a month. I opened 1/2 hour after i put it in the tank. It was opening even during the Moonlight hours.
For the past 2 day now it isnt opening. All tests show good waterquality. I did however find little flatworms around it and I dont know if this has anything to do with it but my greenstar polyps on the same rock are not opening either.

What so "very rare toadstool " about it? Did you pay a very "Rare" price for it??? Such as extremely to much because someone told you it was "rare"?

I am just curious is all..................I think you need a Sailfin Tang to eat the flatworms.

the sailfin suggestion was a joke!

Hey Dewd.

I don't really have any solid suggestions for you other than to just wait.

I had a 75 before my current tank, and I had several leathers in there.
I noticed that the toadstools would sometimes close up for no reason and then suddenly one day open up for a while and the next day would be closed up again.
I seem to remember that if my iodine dropped, It would close up. But when I did a water change, they would open back up.
Star polyps are funny the same way. For a while they will close up, and then just open back up.

BTW,
LiveAquaria.com (Drsfostersmith.com) has this Green Toadstool in Large Specimen ( 5 to 7 inches) for $58.99
And, confirming my suspicion, they suggest that you add Iodine supplement.

The green sarcs commonly listed are not this nice type with florescent green polyps. Its on steve tyrees limited editions with a waiting list of several years at I think $90 per frag.

Here's a couple of mine:
sarc_green_1205.jpg

Recently ORA has started selling frags of a slightly different variety for much cheaper. I saw one at my LFS today for $39! It has a flatter capitulum and according to them does not grow as large. I hope mine getb huge! Currently 3 or 4 inches across each.

Sarcs stay closed on occasion. Keep this variety in good flow and it wont do it too often. If it does don't worry too much as it can live for a very long time closed.

Hey, you pics just popped up. (dial up  )

Yours looks somewhat similar to the ORA ones I've seen. Nice. Green sarcs are great. I was tempted to buy the one I saw today just to have both types, but didn't..........yet!
