I wonder if any of you have any suggestion for stocking my 150 gal tank? My wife wants me to get something more lively than a tank full of SPS corals and clams like I had for past 7 years. The preferences are:

1, some small, colorful fishes that is compatible with clams and corals
2, does not require special feeding or target feeding, low maintenance
3, entertaining for my 6 and 3 yrs old. (this is the main purpose of the tank).

I will add a tank cover to prevent jumpy fish, the tank will have skimmer, some sand, lots of rock.

When tank is more matured, I will add cardinal fish, firefish and mandrain fish, maybe a purple tang or two.

Any suggestion/comment?

I bought at harem of Lyertail Anthias for my 300G. One large pink male and 5 orange females. They are beautiful and cheap. They were around $17 each at DFS.

For the anthias, what is your daily feeding task involves, Louey?

The fairy wrasse is very pretty, but pricy... $50-100. Which specific one do yo you, and likewide, what is the feeding route like?

Both are very good suggestions, BTW.

I have the Ruby Head Fairy Wrasses from liveaquaria.com. Not too pricey and they arrived big and fat. They rival a mandarin for beauty. Mine eat frozen mysis and flake.

If your tank's top is enclosed/covered, fairy wrasses and even flasher wrasses are nice additions. Get a pair or small harem and it'll be fascinating to watch their courting behavior.

I still like my chalk bass.

So far I think they are the longest lived fish I have, and I think they are way cool.

If I had a 150 I would probably put about 30 of them in there.....

Hey, I am almost to the point where I will have 100 gallons total in my system, add a couple more tanks down in the basement and I can have 150 total.

Think it will be allright to stick 30 of them in my 54 corner bowfront main display tank?

I find my yellow accessor to be one of my favortie fish. Watching it swim upsidedown in some of the cave areas is always interesting.

Genicanthus sp. angelfish would work well, also. Watanabei, masked smallowtail, or bellus.

Peace,

Chip

I think I decided to get either fairy wrasse or a flasher wrasse. Try to get a good price on healthy specimens.

Anyone (non-commerical) selling them in So Cal area?

Update

Sorry for the bright light. I need to redo the canopy so that less light will leak out.

Anyone know what type of Anthias are these? I think both are males.
