what is your tank temp... did some reading and some people are having better luck with coral growth when the temps are kept down.. 72-76 degree range... any of u observed this..

mine is between 76-80 degrees... i should probbly limit the swing even more.

I do not know about the diff. between growth rates but I keep my tank as close to 78 as I can, but see swings of 78-82.

78-82 here too. Depends on the season. Here in Florida it seems like it is almost always summer to 82 is the most typical temperature in my tank.

It is 80 right now.

Mine tank runs between 76 and 80. This past summer with the extreme heat it hit as high as 86 8O but no damage to the critters.

mine is 78-82 and varies with my aquacontroller's seasonal programming. I've tried keeping the temp to about 75-77. Some corals are more colorful at lower temps (not sure why) but growth rates definitely went down.

same here, 79-82, I'm thinking of lowering it a bit as I think some of the deep water acro's are very temp sensitive.

I read about the 72-76 F being optimal all the time but I've always had mine 78-80 , like everybody else here, and it's fine. A lot of these corals and fish come from warm waters anyway. Chillers are really noisy and expensive too. Just keep a normal house temperature and it'll be ok. There are of course other possibilities like loss of power during a really hot or cold time of year and the temp. could drop/rise drastically. But are you gonna go buy a heater and chiller just for that.

75.5-79.5 on the side closest to the a/c unit, which runs let's just say alot. i assume the other side of tank has a varience of the same, greater by one possibly two degrees. (mushrooms seem to like it) with a small apartment as this using the kitchen light, not to mention the stove makes a HUGE difference in here. room temp is btwn 73ish at a low morning lights off, and 80-81 lights on. oh yeah, a/c runnnnnning at 70-71.

a/c off all max temps rise by 4-5 degrees during the day. and yes, that is with the windows open.

how long till winter?

The 10-gallon nano is usually at 79. The 29-mishmash of crap left over from the last big tank (couple of clowns, an lawnmower blenny, softies ...) is at 78-80. The 15-gallon is at at 65.
