I first noticed this color morph of what appears to be coralline algae in my sump several weeks ago. There's now a small patch of it in the main tank. It's a nice fluorescent orange.

Just wanted to share, but would also like to see if anyone else had any unusual color morphs of coralline.

If it started in your sump I would guess it is not coraline. Unless you light your sump. I would guess a sponge or somthing. Is it soft or slimy feeling.

My sump is lit with an actinic bulb at a reverse photoperiod (15 hrs). It feels exactly like the other pink, green, and purple coralline in the tank.

Cool never seen orange. I had a sponge that was the same color.

Looks and feels like coralline, but not 100% sure. Maybe Greg's (GSchiemer) seen something like it.

nice. i have lots of the bright orange like that but only on the very base of the rock near the sand or under a ledge of a rock. if i pull a rock out of the sand it even goes under it alittle. if i leave it exposed though it gets dark like the rest. look like you should start rubbing that stuff all around the tank.

That's cool that you have lots! I only have that tiny patch. The patch I did have in the sump is long gone....unless it moved there...on its own 8O

Hi. I also have had a small patch pop up for me about two months ago. I havn't felt it, I'm scared to touch anything in my tank! 8O

Very pretty, I hope for our sakes' it's benign!
