Frag trading ettiquete

I am into frag trading to get more diversity in my tank. I made a deal to trade a hammer and 2 types of zoas for 2 monti digitas and a monti cap. My frags made it to him alright and are doing fine weeks later. I received his today and they were all bleached and DOA. Skin floating in water and horrible rotten smell. What is the proper frag trading ettiquette for this situation? He asked me what I thought we should do. I am actually kind of torn because I see where he did send the frags he said he would send, but I also think I should have something to show for losing a hammer and 2 types of zoas. What would you do?

I would expect some kind of compensation, at the very least. I had one recipient that had a couple of frags die because of a FedEx screw up. When FedEx refunded me the shipping, I sent her replacements.

That's a tough call. The trade was done in good faith it appears and neither party are a true business.

If the package was well wrapped and shipped as promised then IMO you're out some frags. Big bummer for everyone but it's a risk you take. If you trade frags often eventually it will happen to you where the frags you send arrive DOA.

If you look at the big picture, you'll come out way ahead even with the occational loss.

If the sender send the shippment in good faith, there should be no obligation once he sent it. However, he may give goodwill reshipment, but that is up to him, but you should not demand anything unless it is agreed upon on DOA issue before the shipment.

In almost all the cases, reefers are honest people who care about the coral frags they send to others. There are a few bad apples out there, but usually their style is so obvious that you know the scam right away.
