Coral (acro?) id

I have these two frags that I suspect of being acros. Especially the second one (acro2) I think it's an acro. The first one I had since it was a small nub smaller than my pinky's nail and it grew in the shape you see there - like a massive block - a cabbage. I never saw any other acros growing like that (this doesn't mean much though ).

So, any idea of what they are?

yes, these are acropora frags, their growth form is highly dependable on light and food source (water movement).. If they are happy in your tank they'll grow and dependable on these elements form branches to get most out of their surrounding.

Too early to tell with the first one, but the second one kind of looks like an A. austera.

Mihai, it is impossible to ID acropora species by picture only. If one really have to ID them best way to do it is to have piece of dead skeleton to examine its septa.. Even than one should have good experience and resources to do it with 100% certainty cause same species often differ greatly due to they different surroundings.. (interesting to see with mother and child colonies of same spp. in different tanks..)

Veron's Corals of the World vol. 1 is great book that can help with that..

regardless of species if they grow and encrust around the base they'll do good and will prosper...

The 1st looks like some sort of table acro, the second looks lik eit could be a sick tri color valaida sp.

I didn't really wanted more than a confirmation that they are acros. Any species would be a bonnus .
