Burning aptasia is the only reliable way I have found to get rid of them. Peppermint shrimp are hit or miss and even when they eat aptasia they tend to only eat the smaller ones. Kalk paste and products like "Joe's Juice" seem to work well short term, but the aptaisia return in the same spot in my experience.

If you are worried about the crap building up under your rock maybe you should clean it out or replace your rock. I believe that live rock only has a limited useful lifespan anyway, and eventually becomes a bio-load more than a filter. If your rock has ever been through a tank crash I highly recommend you replace it anyway.

Just stop doing water changes or adding evaporated water. It is slow but very effective in killing all the aptasia in your tank.

I now have three posts in the general reefkeeping forum today. Len should be happy with me for at least a month. :D

I'm sure Len will be thrilled with you for recommending copper injections for reeftanks in topside threads. :)

I thought about that too.

Disclaimer: Copper kills nearly everything in a marine tank, including the good stuff.

There. 4th topside post today. I need a beer.

Just take out the rocks.

Oh, yeah, that's easy. Let's just lift a pile of 50 lbs rocks out of the fishtank, strip them of corals, release all sorts of hydrogen sulphide and crap from underneath that has accumulated since 1998, etc.

Has anyone who recommends this ever done that?

Yes, and it works.

Evolution hasn't designed a fish mouth yet that can completely access every last bit of the anemone foot so that it will never grow back. :D

Koran angels will eat them too, sometimes.
