For those of you that have been following, I've had a Mantis living with Thomas basically since I've got him. The two have left each other alone. Now that Thomas is getting older and less interested in eating things and the Mantis is getting bigger it seems he's getting bolder too, I was finally able to snap some pics of him! He actually came out and checked me out, my jaw dropped! He's a little bigger than I thought, about 3", his appendages are multi-colored, and his body is a deep red, like a blood shrimp, he looks awesome! At least I will have something to help me get over Thomas when he passes  :

How old do octopi live in the wild? Is there a difference between tropical and cold water? They say that some of the largest in the world live in the puget sound near seattle. Large enough to eat human if so desired.

According to the Discovery Science channel, Cephalopods generally last ~ 18 months. That's kind of sad. :(

Some make it to the 2 year mark actualy.
If they lay eggs on ya there is a good chance they are going to die with in the next 5-6 months there after. Thats usualy the one thing they make sure they do ( females that is) right before they kick the bucket :( .
