Yes its a needle wheel . You know the kine......I think it may be called the venturi injector. It feeds air to the intake of the pump. I dont think it would be difficult to build but a factory made one is preferable.
Well I just found a prety reliable source that states the sedra 9000 and the OR 3700 use a VERY similair venturi. He states that he has tried them both and used the veturi from the sedra 9000 on the OR 3700 and it worked perfectly.
Here is a link to the sedra 9000 replacement venturi. http://www.customaquatic.com/customaqua ... d=ps-ac-pp
Here is the link where I found the information.

I need one side to be threaded. Anyone have a sedra pump? I need a 1 inch thread on the venturi fitting. If it is one inch than it should fit on the OR 3700
It would have to be in order for it to fit almost perfectly as stated wouldnt it?
I would PM the guy on Rc just to be sure and ask him though before I bought it.
I made one today. What "sucks" is that it will not pull in air unless i have the water level really low. If i connect a small air pump to the venturi it works great. Im happy with it. Thanks for your help fragmaster
bater.
No problem. I am sorry I couldnt help you more.
BTW an air pump hooked up the venturi is a very comon way of creating more foam (no worries there if its needed, as long as it works right!). If it isnt pulling enough air maybe your pump is to small, or your home made venturi's intake hole is to small or not at a great enough angle going with the flow?
Yeah I cant help mess around with some larger hole sizes before I put this to bed. using the airpump works well but it seesm wrong to me in the Venuri world. But if it works , why not. Im running the OR3700 on a XL red sea berlin. If I dont tweak down the flow it introduces a lot of fine bubbles into the sump.
