Anyone use or heard reports about this Ca monitor? I'm very intrigued by it as it would save me lots of time (and eventually money) on doing Ca tests.

Funny that you mention this prroduct... I have my eyes on it too. It's rather expensive but with the time and all the money saved replacing regents for liquid tests, it would pay itself easily within 10 years... given it lasts that long.

I never had such a unit but since I studied chemistry, I am used to those. They are pretty sensitive and fragile piece of equipment and should be handled with TLC. As far as precision goes, if you have a good calibrating solution and you take time to calibrate it when required to, they are very accurate... at least, those in labs.

Randy did a review and testing on it... check out either the AAOM or RK mag online.

Maybe I'll give it a shot :) I'm a lazy (but still diligent ... how's that for oxymoron) hobbyist and this monitor - if it works as advertised - would be most welcomed.

I'm also thinking about using their salinity monitor. With these monitors, the only thing I'd have to test for is PO4, and phosphates aren't something I normally test for anyhow unless I see algae.

I have also been looking at this device. Actually I was hoping to find a all-in-one type of product that does several things (e.g. Ca, PH, Salinity, etc). This will allow me to buy one more toy

Yeah, it is not as versatile as other instrumentation we have, such as TDS or pH.
