I use an Iwaki R40 to run my closed loop. It's a magnetic drive pump.

I was wondering if it could be run on some kind of voltage control timer(?), to cycle through phases of high and low flow.

Anyone know if his can be done with this kind of pump, and if so with what device?

Many Thanks

it would be better to just restrict the output of the pump and leave it running normally.

There are some homemade devices that turn valves back and forth which are just awesome in my DIY Opinion....

You will have to search for them, I don't even remember what they are called.

I think there was someone who posted a thread about making a device that smoothly switched the flow from one end of the tank to the other in a nice sinusoidol fashion.

Sinusoidol I spelled wrong I think, is that even a word?

Sweet, thanks. I'll look for a thread on that.

I think maybe Sinusoidol is a kind of nasal infection...JK

I would contact Iwaki and ask them. They probably have a "contact us" botton on their webpage.

It depends on the type of motor. Shunt, series, compound, etc., all have different characteristics, and different controll requirement.
