I have a clown in QT that I want to add as a mate for my current clown.

I've had mine for over 2 years and he/she is very large...over 3 inches. And seriously territorial.

The clown I brought home is tiny. It's less than an inch.

Is there any danger that the larger clown will kill the smaller clown in the initial dispute for dominance? I don't think the small one could even take one bite from the big one. Almost looks like the big one could swallow him. :?

Since they are different sizes, there may be no need for a show of dominance. To be safe I would put the little guy in a jar or something like that and see what the bigger clown thinks about him. The species is an important factor in aggression. If it s a marron clown or tomato clown it can end tragic. What kine clown is it?

Ocellaris (false perc). Peaceful clown.

I think I will put the little guy in a clear container and place it close to the larger clown's territory to see if they try to be friends or if the larger clown shows agression.

I know they will get along in the end, but the size difference is so pronounced that I'm worried that any initial agression will kill the smaller clown right off the bat.

I do it all the time and in every case the tiny Ocellaris was immediately accepted.

This is definately not true for Maroon but so far for me it has worked 100% with Ocellaris.

As an example last week I introduced a 3/4" to a 2.5" female.
