I was reading a post and someone suggested putting the gasket on the outside of the glass with the nut. I'm not trying to pick a fight but it is the exact opposite of what I did. From a plumbers standpoint, After the water reaches the threads, the only thing stopping it is a quarter turn of tension on the gasket. I have never put a gasket on the underside of a sink or bathtub so to me it was second nature to put it on the inside with the flange. Am I wrong?

I believe as long as the gasket is mounted adjacent to the flange, it'll work as intended. It doesn't matter if it's inside or outside the tank (you can insert the bulkhead in either direction).

Gasket and flange on the wet side and the nut on the dry side.
