IMAC...WOW!!

This was the first time I have had a chance to go to a conferance. If you have never had the chance, make it to one!! 3 days of great presentations, dealer specials, frag demos, freebies, and a raffle that would blow your mind! The best part for me was the fact that so many speakers where more than willing to answer questions on the side. I had the privilage of speaking with Calfo for 30 minutes about my systems and getting his in put. Eric B was just as giving with his time, as was Julian, Bob Ferner, and more. Sure do wish I had made it to a conferance sooner as I learned more this weekend than I would have ever guest I would. WELL worth the money!!

Wow, I'm jealous! Sounds like a great event. I'd love a chance to chat with any of those guys.

A little off-topic, but what does IMAC stand for? Do they ever have international events?

IMAC = International Marine Aquarium Conference

Yeah I wish I could have made it to it as well. Sorry for Eric B. problems with his tank, but its great to hear he has taken it well enough to attend the conference and give his time.

I would have probably freaked and went home to take care of my tank

Just found their web-site and it has a few VIDEOS of presentations! Very cool.

But, AFAIK, although the 'I' is for International, most/all of their events are inside the US. I hope they put more videos online in the future.

Did Fenner invite everyone to a tequila/beer party after his talk like he did at the WMC? Man, that guy seems really cool.

Pizza and beer this time. Bob does seem like a very nice guy, pretty funny in his talk too. As for Eric B, when you talked to him you could tell that the tank issue was still very touchy. I had never meat Eric before so I don't know if he always seems so..."soft" but he certainly was this weekend. Great guy, feel terrible for him. The Fiji trip was a cool raffle, but other prizes included, a FUULLLY LOOOADED Oceanic 120. rock, sand coral and all. Had to price out near 10K retail, AGA 180 with lots of stuf. ORA gave 30 corals 14 clams, a dozen or so fish and a couple sea hourses, Seachem had 1 of every test kit they make, gave 2 of those sets and 2 100gph Piniccal ro/di units. Gift certs to several differant shops, MH fixtures, T-5 fixtures, and thats less than half the stuff.

IMAC started the year that there was a question whether MACNA would go on or end forever. Obviously, it has continued. The International moniker was used to distinguish it from MAC. I believe it was started by the Chicago reef club and spearheaded by Dennis Gallagher. The conference has always been held in the Chicago area, and AFAIK will continue to be held there.

Shane it was good meeting you too! I always like to get a face to a name. I dought I miss one EVER AGAIN!!! It was such a good time, great meeting with others very informative, and inspiring. They said next years is June 1, 2, 3 I believe. It's the 1st weekend of June at any rate. It was started by Dennis and I believe he has a deal with the hotel to get a great rate on the space for some time, several years I belive. It was pretty international too. Several from Canida, England and a couple Aussies too.
