I'd like to know salts without chelators. I'd probably give them a shot first if I can find a good non-chelator salt mix.

be careful if you plan on switching between salts, especially going from ones with chelators and ones without. You risk releasing all the metals that had been bound by the chelators. A local reefer in my club lost his whole tank after switching. His big mistake was doing a rather large water change vs many small changes.

Overall he was instructed he should have done 5 gal changes once a month on his 220 gal system, during the change over period. I'm happy with my salt, but I'd suggest doing your home work in depth before just changing out your salt.

Hmmm. So if I start with one salt, the best course of action is to just stick with it forever, right?

Can you explain why going from a chelated salt to a non-chelated salt will release metals? Is the vice versa true too?

pwj, chelators are often used to help the salts dissolve more thoroughly (from what I've read).

I just changed my salt from Oceanic to Instant Ocean...bad?

Oceanic is just so darn expensive.

Truth is I am trying to shoot for the most natural Synthetic Sea Water, but none come close.
